- Gently wipe clean the mushrooms and cut off larger woody stems. Do not cut up mushrooms unless very large.
- Heat up a frying pan (cast iron or similar is best) on high heat. Add enough sesame oil to coat the pan and add in garlic and ginger. Lay down the mushrooms without crowding them and cook on high until the mushrooms are dark golden brown in colour then flip and cook the other side. Add more oil if needed.
- Remove mushrooms from the pan and place on a serving dish. Pour soy sauce over them, top with the green onions and lemon zest. Lastly, squeeze the fresh lemon juice over the entire dish. Serve immediately with Japanese style short grain rice.
