Directions
To Prep
- Combine the sauce ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Set aside.
To Cook
- In a large non-stick fry pan, heat cooking oil over high heat and sauté garlic until fragrant.
- Add in pork belly strips and sprinkle the five-spice powder all over the pork.
- Pour the combined sauce into the frying pan, bring to a boil.
- Flip the pork belly strips and cover the pan with a lid. Turn heat to medium and cook for approx. 10 mins.
- Remove the lid and flip the meat again. Return lid back to the pan and continue to cook for 15 mins.
- Add the salt and thick dark caramel dark soy sauce. Cover and continue to cook for 15 mins.
- Flip the meat again to get an even colour, and allow to cook again for another 15 mins.
- The sauce would have started to thicken by now. Keep the lid off, flipping the pork belly strips a couple more times before turning off the heat.
- Slice the pork belly into bite sizes and serve immediately.
