Christmas or Christmas Day, a widely observed cultural holiday, is celebrated in various ways such as attending special church services, spending time with family members, eating a festive meal with friends and family. A well-renown aspect of Christmas are the decorations which represents the significance of Christmas. Decorations include native clay figure of Jesus, Mary, shepherds and the 3 kings in a hut, re-enacting the night Jesus was born in Bethlehem. During the festive season, houses and malls can be seen adorned with Christmas trees, decoration lights, garlands, wreaths, mistletoe, glass baubles, tinsel, snow man decorations and holly.

Christmas is a time to share and to enjoy warm and hearty meals together with loved ones. Roast meat and vegetables, heavy fruit cakes and small coins baked inside steamed puddings are just a few of the many dishes enjoyed during Christmas.  With meals come traditions, and a well-known tradition is that of the steamed pudding with a small coin. It has been known that whoever finds the coin in his or her portion of steamed pudding is believed to have a lucky year!

One of the biggest events celebrating Christmas in Victoria is Carols by candlelight. It is an essential event which kick starts one of the most celebrated festivals here in Australia.
