Asian Gourmet Restaurant – Adelaide

While the name may not be the most original going around, there’s no doubt the laksa is among the finest in Australia. Found in the food court of the bustling Adelaide Central Market, don’t expect linen table cloths and silverware—or even friendly service. But do expect delicious laksa made with fresh ingredients sourced on site.

While the laksa is the stand out, you can also grab your usual Singaporean street food fare like fried kway teow, spring rolls and a variety of noodle dishes.

Laksa King – Sydney

Laksa King’s combo laksa truly lives up to its name, with more ‘combo’ than just about any other on this list: prawns, spongy tofu, fish tofu, fish balls, vegetables, chicken and beef—it’s the works in bowl form.

The broth is delightful, with just enough sweetness to balance out the spice, and the noodles are cooked to perfection. It might be just a little hole in the wall, but it’s worth the visit!

Laksa King – Melbourne

Another crown for another king! Part of Melbourne’s foody elite, Laksa King has been filling bellies with a wide variety of noodle soups for decades.

While they offer more than just delicious noodles floating in broth, you’re missing the point if you opt for something else. The duck curry laksa is a stand out!

Taurus Hawker Foods

There is nothing fancy about the Taurus at all. The seating is basic, as is the service, but the place gets packed because the traditional Malaysian hawker food sold here is brilliant.

Take advantage of the seafood laksa—the seafood in W.A. is underrated and works wonderfully with the sweet spicy curry flavours of the laksa.

Lemak – Brisbane

Almost as famous for their fried chicken as they are their laksa, Lemak serves up fantastic fare in the traditional Malaysian hawker style.

The laksa itself is renowned around Brisbane, but the vegetarian variety might be the best we’ve tried in some time! It’s not always about the meat team!
