Tom Yum Goong (Easy Tom Yum Soup)


Complex flavours made with simple steps! A dish layered with authentic flavours of Thai combining salty, spicy, sweet and sour flavours together. This easy-to-follow tom yum goong recipe will make everyone think you’re a great chef (even if you’re not!).

Ingredients:

8 large green prawns
100g mixed seafood
400ml chicken stock (canned)
250ml water
2 tbsp dried shrimp (pounded)
4 red or green chillies (bruised)
3 kaffir lime leaves (shredded)
4 slices fresh or dried galangal
12cm lemongrass (only bulb end)
1 tbs sugar
3 tbsp lime juice
4 tbsp Squid Fish Sauce
½ cup straw mushrooms
A pinch of salt
1 tbsp oil
Coriander (for garnishing)




Steps:
  1. Devein prawns, rinse and pat dry with paper towel.
  2. Heat oil in a pot and quickly stir-fry pounded dried shrimp, chillies, lime leaves, galangal and lemongrass for 1 min. Add the remaining ingredients and cook for 10 min.
  3. Adjust seasoning to taste, garnish and serve hot.
