Sukiyaki (Japanese Style Beef Stew)
Sukiyaki Japanese Beef Stew


A rich, home-style broth cooked to perfection with thinly cut beef and a selection of Asian vegetables. Try this Japanese Style Beef Stew popularly known as Sukiyaki.

Ingredients:

400g beef loin (very thinly sliced)
3 stalks spring onion (cut into 3cm length)
6 fresh shiitake mushrooms (stem removed)
300g silken tofu (cubed)
300g Shimeji mushroom (hard stems removed)
200g Wongbok (Chinese cabbage, roughly chopped into stamp size pieces)
1 tbsp vegetable oil

Simmering sauce

½ cup soy sauce
½ cup Obento Mirin Seasoning
¼ cup Obento Cooking Sake
2 tbsp sugar
¼ cup water




Steps:
  1. Put all ingredients for simmering sauce into a pot and bring to the boil, for 1-2 mins. Turn off heat and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over low heat. Spread beef slices over the bottom of pan. Pour in simmering sauce. Turn up the heat to high and simmer beef for 1 min. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 1-2 mins or until food is cooked.
  3. Ladle into individual bowls and serve immediately.
