Soy-braised Chicken with Ginger and Star Anise
Chicken braised in a soy-based sauce and flavoured with ginger and star anise, Try this Chinese recipe.

1kg chicken thigh fillets (cut in half)
2 tbsp cooking oil
¼ cup water
2cm piece ginger (julienned)
2 cloves garlic (chopped)
¼ cup Shao Xing Chinese rice wine
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp sugar
¼ cup Yeo's Light Soy Sauce
1 star anise
- Heat wok over medium heat, add oil, ginger and garlic, and cook over low heat for 1-2 mins, or until slightly golden.
- Add the chicken, increase the heat to medium and brown for 3 mins.
- Add the wine, honey and star anise and soy sauce to the wok and allow to simmer over a low heat for 15 mins until the chicken is tender.
- Serve with steamed Jasmine rice.
