Sambal Prawns
Sambal Prawns


Prawns stir-fried in sambal oelek recipe. Sambal oelek is a paste made from ground red chillies, sometimes including salt, lime or lemongrass. It is used to add spice to dishes without altering the other flavours. (Straits recipe)

Ingredients:

500g prawns (shell and deveined)
250g mixed vegetables (or your favourite vegetables)
1 medium onion (sliced)
3 tbsp Yeo's Sambal oelek
½ tsp Yeo's Sesame Oil
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsp corn oil




Steps:
  1. Heat oil in a wok and fry onion for about 2 mins, or until transparent.
  2. Add the prawns and sambal oelek, then stir-fry on medium heat for 3 mins.
  3. Add the vegetables and sugar to the wok and continue to stir-fry for 3 mins or until prawns are cooked.
  4. Sprinkle with a few drops of sesame oil and serve immediately with noodles.

Hint: Add more or less of the sambal oelek paste to suit your desired taste. This recipe is versatile, you can always swap prawns with chicken. But remember, if prawns are substituted with chicken, the cooking time should be increased.
