Pan-Fried Chicken Thigh In Yakitori Sauce

Ingredients:

1kg chicken thigh fillets (trimmed and cut into 3cm pieces)
150g lotus roots (cut to 5mm thick - can be replaced with other crunchy vegetables such as water chestnuts, etc.)
150g green beans
150g carrots (cut to 3cm chunks)
400g deep-fried tofu (cut into 3cm cubes)

Yakitori Simmer Sauce

200ml Obento Yakitori Sauce
200ml water
10g shichimi pepper (Japanese seven spice)

Ingredients C (Simmer Sauce)

150ml Obento Japanese Soy Sauce
150ml Obento Mirin Seasoning
100ml Obento Cooking Sake




Steps:
  1. Combine ingredients C in a pot. Add lotus roots and bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium and gently cook until tender.
  2. Put carrots in a pot and add enough water to cover the carrots. Bring to boil and continue cooking until carrots are tender. Take the carrots out, then blanch the beans.
  3. Preheat pan with small amount of oil and pan-fry the chicken until ¾ of the way cooked. Add remaining ingredients and Yakitori Simmer Sauce. Cover lid.
  4. Gently simmer until the liquid is reduced to half.
  5. Share the ingredients and sauce evenly into a bowl and sprinkle some seven spice pepper over the top. Serve hot.
