Ochazuke (Japanese Green Tea Rice)
Ochasuke


Ochazuke is a traditional Japanese dish in which hot green tea is poured over rice topped with a few simple ingredients. It is simple yet extremely tasty that is beloved by Japanese. Ochazuke can be enjoyed as a light meal or as a snack at any time of the day.

Ingredients:

1 cup cooked rice
1½ cups Japanese green tea
100g fried / baked salmon flakes
2 tsp mirin
1 roasted seaweed sheet (thinly sliced)
1 tsp sesame seeds (toasted)
wasabi
1 spring onion (finely sliced)
crispy puffed rice (if available)
Japanese soy sauce




Steps:
  1. Prepare hot Japanese green tea
  2. Microwave cold rice and divide into two bowls.
  3. Layer rice with salmon flakes, seaweed, sesame seeds, spring onion, mirin and however much wasabi you like.
  4. Pour hot green tea over rice and serve immediately. Garnish with crispy puffed rice.
  5. Add the desired amount of soy sauce to your personal liking.
