Agedashi Tofu (Deep-fried Tofu in Soy)
Deep-fried Tofu in Soy (agedashi Tofu)


Flavoured with soy sauce, this deep-fried tofu dish makes a nice little side dish. Tofu is high in protein and other nutrients. Try this Japanese recipe.

Ingredients:

300g tofu
30ml cornflour
oil (for deep-frying)

Dipping sauce

200ml dashi
3 tbsp Obento Soy Sauce
3 tbsp Obento Mirin

Garnish

10g ginger (finely sliced)
1 spring onion (finely sliced)
10g Yamahide Shaved Bonito




Steps:
  1. Cut the well-drained tofu into 4 large pieces and dip into the cornflour. Deep-fry the tofu for 6 – 8 mins until golden.
  2. Make the dipping sauce by combining the ingredients together in a small pan and bring to simmer.
  3. Place tofu in a bowl, top with some of the ginger, spring onion and bonito flakes, and pour over the warm dipping sauce.
