The deep-fried Nian Gao with Sweet Potato and Yam is commonly served in most Chinese households during the Lunar New Year period. The sticky, sweet and chewy texture of the Nian Gao and the crunchy, deep fried sweet potato and yam goes perfectly together, making this a very addictive snack!
300g Nian Gao* or Chinese steamed sticky cake (thinly sliced)
Sweet potato (thinly sliced)
Yam (thinly sliced)
50g rice flour
50g tapioca flour
15g custard powder
1tsp baking powder
30g cooking oil or vegetable oil
*Nian Gao can be bought from Asian grocery stores, or our homemade Nian Gao recipe.
