Top 10 Tofu Dishes With a Twist

A blessing for vegans and vegetarians for those who know Tofu, it is an extremely versatile dish. When mixed with other ingredients makes for an incredible and tasty dish. Since the last 2,000 years, tofu has been the staple food of Asians, and now is slowly gaining importance in other countries too.

If you’re a vegan, or a vegetarian, or just want to switch from eating meat or eggs, try these tofu delicacies, make a finger-licking meal and go the healthy way!

Here are the top 10 tofu dishes with a twist:

Mandu: Korean dumpling or Mandu, can be boiled, steamed, pan-fried, deep-fried and can be added to soup as well. Mandu consists of beef or pork, onion, cabbage, tofu and wanton wrappers.

Korean Kimchi Tofu soup: Soups are great for winter and warm you to the bone. The custardy tofu dish along with the rich broth, and loads of veggies, is sure to satisfy your appetite. Garnish the kimchi tofu soup and serve it with some rice in the side.

Pan-fried Tofu with Korean sesame soy glaze: Prepare the pan-fried tofu and you’re sure to love it for its bold yet simple flavours. To make this you need some Korean red chilli paste (Gochujang), mirin, honey, garlic and of course tofu slices. To garnish add black sesame seeds and red chillis.


Spicy Korean Beef tofu soup: For someone who loves healthy delicious soups, along with spicy flavours, this is the soup to have. This soup consists of tofu, beef, chilli flakes and water onions. Adding beef to this dish makes it a glorious rich soup.

Korean styled broiled tofu: A treat that is perfect for those who prefer low calories, it is spicy and salty.  Preparing this requires a few pieces of tofu, soy sauce, garlic clove minced, asian hot red bean paste, and sprinkle it with green onions.

Korean BBQ Tofu tacos: International fusion of tacos with tofu makes this dish unique, with a Mexican touch. The tofu is marinated in garlic, chilli, and lime, cabbage is added for the crunchy effect to the tacos.

Jajangmyun (blackbean noodles): A popular noodle dish in Korea, and the most enjoyed food. It makes use of blackbean sauce which has high fibre content and proteins, cabbage, potato, onion, pork belly.

 Mapa Dabu: It is a spicy tofu dish, and tastes even better with some beef mince. It uses tofu(hard), beef mince, onion, red capsicum, garlic.

 Soon Du Bu Jigae: Also known as the Korean Soft Tofu stew, is a versatile dish to which pieces of seafood or meat can be added. All that’s required to prepare this is tofu, beef,  chilli powder,  soy bean paste.

Korean inspired sautéed tofu: Served with brown rice and steamed spinach is a great source of fibre and is rich in carbs, should be served as a first course.  The recipe that goes in preparing this dish is rice vinegar, mirin, soft tofu, ginger, garlic.
