When you’re visiting Singapore, The Singapore Flyer is a must visit attraction that you cannot miss out on. It is, without a doubt, one the best places to visit in Singapore.
A bird’s eye view of a huge city. A panorama of a sprawling metropolis. A completely exhilarating experience. A ride on the Singapore Flyer is all that and more. The Singapore Flyer is the world’s second largest Ferris wheel, challenged only by the High Roller in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Considered by many as a rival to the UK’s London Eye, the Flyer has been a tourist attraction since its inauguration in 2008. With good reason – the trip lasts at least half an hour; that’s thirty minutes of non-stop fun and awe. The wheel’s capsules are air-conditioned, too, so that in the warm tropical climate, you don’t feel the heat.
Apart from the excellent view and just the fun of being on such a different joyride, the Flyer incorporates a three-storey terminal building which comprises some excellent commercial space. Here, you can spend time at the shops, bars, and restaurants, and also the Greek-inspired theatre along the waterfront which is complemented by a jetty.
The best time to hitch a ride on the Singapore flyer is at dusk when the city is softly lit. Back on the ground, you can head for a dinner of chili crabs at Seafood Paradise, a popular seafood destination.
