Must-eat in Vietnam – Cua Lot

Seafood is known for its aromas and flavours. Cua Lot, a delicious little soft shell crab dish from Vietnam is no different.

Soft shell crabs are a mouthful of flavour, especially when sautéed with onions and garlic. But they’re even better when served in Southeast Asian style, with a sprinkling of traditional spices, herbs and condiments.

Cua Lot is particularly tasty in Vietnam because it brings in fresh and authentic tastes such as spicy black peppers, fish sauce and soy sauce.

Many restaurants in Vietnam serve up sumptuous Cua Lot. You can savour the rich taste of golden, deep-fried crabs flavoured with red chilli sauce, tomato puree, zesty ginger paste, and finely chopped fresh coriander leaves that come together to complete this Vietnamese delight. Some restaurants best the others by adding a squeeze of orange juice to pump the dish with a tropical flavour.

The dish is an absolute pleasure. It looks so enticing, even the fussiest eaters will not be able to resist it. Plated up with a side of freshly cut tomatoes and sometimes bell peppers, be sure to sample this must-eat in Vietnam – Cua Lot.
