Must-eat in Thailand – Mango with Sticky Rice

Mango sticky rice dessert (Khao Niaow Ma Muang) is a classic Thai recipe that is a must-eat the next time you travel to Thailand. Both mangoes and rice flourish in Thailand making the ingredients for this all time favourite easy to obtain. It can be found all across Thailand sold by hawkers, small stalls and even restaurants.

We promise you, it’s an experience you will never forget. Making this authentic Thai dessert could be a challenge if you don’t get the right rice for it. As the name suggests, you need sticky rice (also known as glutinous rice). Be sure to get the right rice for this dessert, as other types of rice will not work for this dish. A variation for this dish is also to use black glutinous rice instead of glutinous rice, which gives a nice contrasting dark colour to the pale luscious mango.
