Must-eat in Thailand – Laap

The best part about travelling new places is getting to sample and relish the local cuisine. Whether the food is served at a glitzy 5-star restaurant, or on a rickety cart by the street side, digging into a plate, or bowl of a local delicacy is a must.

When you’re in Thailand, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to food. Thai cuisine has an infinite number of dishes for you to dig into. But then again, some dishes are so delicious, that you cannot bid goodbye to Thailand without trying them out at least once.

One such dish is Laap. A rustic dish that finds its roots in northeastern Thailand, Laap is minced meat that only gets better with every mouthful. Seasoned beautifully with roasted rice powder, fish sauce, herbs and spices, and a tiny squeeze of lime juice for a zesty punch, this Thai delicacy will leave you with a feeling of great contentment.

It is served with sticky rice at most restaurants, although a few street vendors will sell you a bowl of laap alone. Either way, the tradition is to eat it by hand. So, enjoy yourself the Thai way, with this must-eat in Thailand – Laap.
