Must-eat in China – Spinach Noodles

The very first thing that comes to your mind when someone speaks of Chinese cuisine is noodles. It’s inevitable, like the big fat juicy American burger and the flat Indian bread – ‘roti’.

In China, noodles are staple food. And they come in all forms and flavours. You can have rice noodles with a side of dipping sauce, or crispy fried noodles with assorted meats thrown in.

Then there is a specialty called Spinach Noodles.  Locally, this delicacy is called bo ca mian. This dish can be found sold from stalls, street carts and restaurants in China, particularly X’ian in central China, will plate up this dish, simply because it is a local favourite.

This authentic Chinese dish brings something new to the dinner table, and that’s spinach. It is the star ingredient of this bo ca mian. Mixed with the noodles, it accompanies other flavourful items like eggs, potatoes, carrots, beef and chillies. Dunked in a spicy red sauce, this is a definite must-eat when in China!
