Haji Lane is a fashionista’s paradise. It is a street bordered on both sides by a collection of small shophouses which have been transformed into charming retail shops. There are several shops on this street which are popular with tourists and locals alike. A walk down this lane makes for one of the most unforgettable of all travel experiences.
Know It Nothing is shophouse known for selling tailored dress shirts stitched with silver buttons. Pluck is known for its cute, yet chic collection of cushion covers and an adorable ice-cream parlour. A few paces forward, you can find Salad, which offers a wide range of home accessories like laser-cut table mats and whimsical postcards.
Straits Record is practically an institution in the local music scene; this is where you’ll find albums by local and international artists, apart from vinyls and rare books. Sup Clothing is a little store which is a nod to urban cities that have defined skateboarding, punk and hip-hop clothing. Sup Clothing also happens to be the only store that stocks threads designed by local graffiti artist, The Killer Gerbil.
After all this street-shopping, make sure to head down to Café le Caire for a sumptuous lunch.
Haji Lane has a rustic, yet modern vibe about it. The street buzzes with a young, vibrant energy which refreshes you as you walk along the quaint boutiques with their vintage collections. The arcane meets the contemporary here on Haji Lane, making it a must-visit place in Singapore.
