Celebrate the Lunar New Year with Asian Inspirations at Crown Melbourne. From Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th February, the Crown Plaza Riverwalk Melbourne will transform into an Asian culinary hub, complete with colourful lanterns, dazzling light displays and cooking demonstrations from five of our favourite chefs. Taste the authentic flavours of Korea, Malaysia, China, Japan and Thailand with masterclasses and free food samples all weekend.
At 5 pm on Friday evening, our Korean cookery expert Heather Jeong will take to the stage to create two delectable recipes: spicy stir-fried pork with kimchi, and Korean barbecued beef ribs. Then, at 7 pm, acclaimed Japanese chef Kinsan will man the pans, whipping up a caramelised pork belly salad and wasabi chicken dish.
On Saturday, Heather will recreate her pair of Korean classics from 12 pm. At 2 pm Malaysian home cooking master Karen Chan will share easy recipes for white curry chicken and sambal chicken. At the evening session, modern Cantonese marvel Leslie Chan is the one to watch, serving sautéed fish with celery and wok-tossed prawns from 5 pm. He’ll be tag-teaming with Thai maestro Sujet Saenkham of Sydney’s Spice I Am, who’ll take over from 7 pm to make spicy stir-fried chicken with beans and a luscious massaman curry.
Sunday sees Sujet and Kin-San return for the lunchtime session, followed by Leslie and Karen in the evening.
