Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival), founded back in 2006, is celebrated every year to mark the anniversary of Japan and Australia’s friendship. Every passing year has been attracting more and more tourists from all around the world. Some of the interesting attractions are the culinary delights of Japanese cuisine, stage performances by Japanese artists, displays of origami and calligraphy, Japanese hip hop, art, authentic dishes, traditional Japanese dancing, and imperial court music. This family fun day also organises a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, sessions which reveal secrets of Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging), and allows beautiful kite flying, karate and sumo demonstrations. The mouthwatering Japanese food stalls and beer gardens are the highlight of the whole festival.
