Australia is a multi-cultural country and every festival, irrespective of its ethnicity is celebrated with the same amount of zest and fervour. Australians take part in every celebration as though it is their own. Celebrating festivals in Australia is as good as celebrating it in the countries they originated in.

Asian festivities are celebrated with great pomp and fervour and the Chinese Moon Festival is one of them. There are 3 main Asian events that happen in Australia and involves a lot of excitement.

1. Lantern parade,  Hong Kong Dragon dance in Adelaide

The Adelaide Lantern Parade features the Australia’s largest lantern celebrations and each year they come up with new themes and designs for the parade. This year they featured the Hong Kong Dragon which is deemed as the largest lantern that was created for a lantern festival. They also have a host of other cultural activities and one of the popular ones are Hong Kong Dragon dance. This festival usually takes place at the Elder Park in Adelaide.

2. Cabramatta Moon Festival

Cabramatta Moon Festival is the second largest Asian festival celebrated in Australia by the Vietnamese community that resides in Cabramatta, Australia. The streets of Cabramatta will be transformed into a huge fair. The streets will be adorned with beautiful lanterns and plenty of activities, cultural performances, culinary delights, a beautiful lantern parade and amusement rides will be arranged for the people who come visit. Mooncakes, lanterns, and tangyuans will be widely avail at this festival as these are extremely important to the festival.

3. Crown Mooncake Festival

The Crown plaza hosts the mooncake festival when the moon is its fullest and brightest. The Chinese Moon Festival marks the end of the harvest season each year and this celebration brings families and friends together. The entire Crown plaza will be decorated with lanterns in the colour of red, green and black. Loads of demonstration classes are arranged for the Crown moon festival patrons and the biggest highlight of the festival is the fireworks display in the end.
