Piers Festival

“A carnival of colourful celebration”,the best way to describe the Piers festival in Australia. With firework displays, world music, dance, delicious food, walking tours, photos and historical exhibitions, January 2015 will mark the third instalment of the Piers festival at Princes Pier, which has welcomed thousands of people to the shores of Melbourne.

Australia’s rich migrant history is celebrated on this day. During the gold rush, Chinese immigrants came along to Victoria. Soon after the Second World War, the continent welcomed European immigrants. The Princes Piers have welcomed people belonging to various cultures for ages. Therefore, this event is quite an occasion, as it acts as a reminder of the sanctuary that Australia was for those in need of a fresh start.
