Meet Top Thai Chef Sujet Saenkham of Spice I Am

Australia’s top Thai chef, Sujet Saenkham of Spice I Am in Sydney will be bringing his flair for authentic Thai flavours to the Asian Inspirations cooking demonstrations at Crown Melbourne to celebrate Lunar New Year in February. Sujet Saenkham

Regarded as the leading innovative of Thai food in Australia today, Sujet first learnt his craft from his mother, who frequently catered for dignitaries and official delegates in their home town of Ratchaburi, in Central Thailand.

These time-honoured family recipes have been tempting the tastebuds of Sydneysiders since 2004, when Sujet first threw open the doors to Spice I Am restaurant in Surry Hills. It quickly became one of the hottest tables in town, praised for its authenticity and bold flavours.

Following the success of his Surry Hills bolthole, Sujet opened another four restaurants in Sydney, including Spice I Am outposts in Balmain and Darlinghurst, southern Thai-focused Surry Hills Eating House, and House, which specialises in the fiery flavours of the Isaan province.

When he’s not cooking or devising menus and recipes for his restaurants, Sujet can be found on his farm in the Kangaroo Valley, cultivating kaffir limes, finger limes, herbs, chillies, eggplants and other essential Thai ingredients to use in his kitchens.

We are honoured to have Sujet come on board with Asian Inspirations to celebrate Lunar New Year. Catch Sujet at the Asian Inspirations Cooking Demonstration at the Crown Plaza Riverwalk from 7pm on Saturday 4th February and from midday on Sunday 5th February.

Sujet will be revealing the secret to traditional beef massaman curry, and stir-frying a spicy chicken and bean dish. Be sure to pay a visit to the Asian Inspirations hub to sample these Thai tempters for yourself!
