Crown Moon Festival is the second largest Moon Festival event held in Australia near the Crown entertainment complex. Crown will be hosting their annual Mooncake festival this spring which is known to enthral people from Melbourne with an array of festivities.
Moon Festival is held in the honour of the Moon Goddess, on the day the moon is the brightest and fullest. The festival is traditionally celebrated by getting together with family and watch the moon while relishing on delicious mooncakes.
Experience a wide range of Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese and Malaysian delicacies in a hawker market style atmosphere.
Crown moon festival features a series of fun and cultural activities packed with a lot of entertainment. The festival will see loads of performances from famous dance troupes and performing arts groups in Australia.
This year, Asian Inspirations will be a part of the event. You can sample some of the best Asian food at the stall and also participate in the Moon Festival FOTO Contest where you have exciting prizes up for grabs.
The Crown’s Atrium will be transformed into a gigantic Asian Market with beautiful and colourful lanterns and and sweet stalls. The lanterns in general represent fertility based on moon’s cycle and the festivals celebrations.
Lion dance and other dance performances by different dance groups will take place at this festival. A magnificent display of fireworks takes place at the end of the festival.The Chinese believe that it is customary to have fireworks as they ward off evil spirits.
