Noodles with meat and vegetables
250 gram packet of wheat noodles (or any kind of your choice)
3 tablespoons oil
200 grams raw peeled prawns
1 chicken thigh diced
1 pork sirloin steak diced
3 rasher of bacon sliced
1 onion cut in half and sliced
3 slices ginger
2 garlic cloves minced
1 teaspoon sambal oelek
2 stalks celery sliced fine including leaves
1/4 cabbage sliced fine
100 grams snow peas
cracked black pepper to taste
3 spring onions cut into 4cm lengths
2 teaspoons chicken stock powder
2 tablespoon kecap manis
1/2 teaspoon fish sauce
Cook noodles in boiling water until just cooked, immediately drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.
In a large frypan or work, pour in 2 tablespoons of oil and in separate batches brown the chicken, pork and prawns and set aside. The prawns will not take long to cook, once they turn a lovely orange colour remove from the pan.
Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the pan and saute the onion, ginger and garlic until soft. Toss in the bacon and sambal oelek and stir for 1 minute.
Now add the cabbage, celery, chicken stock powder, cracked black pepper and a dash of water. Stir to combine and cover the ingredients with the sambal mixture. Place the lid on and reduce the heat. Simmer to let the steam just wilt the vegetables.
Remove lid and add the chicken, pork, prawns and snow peas. Mix well. Throw in the noodles together with the spring onions and pour over the kecap manis and fish sauce, stir well.
